Gents kilts are recommended to be made in either 13oz medium weight or 16oz heavy weight cloth, but can be made in 11oz light weight for a warmer climate.

8 yards (7.4 metres) of cloth is usual but 7 yards (6.5 metres) or 9 yards (8.3 metres) can also be used depending on the build of each gentleman.

Matching garter flashes can also be produced from the choosen cloth.

Youths have the option of both 13 & 11oz cloth in a 6 yard (5.6 metre) kilt

Boys Kilts are normally 4 yards of 11oz cloth.

Semi kilts are recommended for very young children, 2.5 yards (2.3 metres) of 11oz cloth, partiallly machine made.

Tartan kilts can be finished in a
number of ways : box or knife
pleating, patterned to stripe or
sett, with either 2 or 3 buckles
and with added hems for extra growth.

Kilts do not just have to be made from traditional tartan, a number of self coloured fabrics are available for wear.
